alcora bay to DARWIN.28-29 JUNE 2011
midnight departure to get cape don tide, using chartplotter to get safely out to deeper water.motor sailing 10 knots with 3.5 knots current but the fast ride was not long enough.then sailing with current with us till sunrise.after that variable current and wind and made good time to cape hotham so continued on,sailing overnight.wind went next day so motored on till darwin.fantastic to complete our first big trip-safely,learning so much, meeting some great yachties and having so much fun.dropped anchor in fannie bay-impressive with lots of rally yachts at anchor.that afternoon we fueled at cullen bay, then motored via darwin harbour,to bayview marina, through the lock, and tied up at berth D20.very pretty marina.over to fannie bay yacht club for a lovely celebratory dinner with friends-with spectacular sunset over all the yachts.
